Meet Dr. Kunz
Dr. Kunz is originally from Michigan but he is thrilled to be a member of the Naples community, both personally and professionally. He graduated from Brigham Young University prior to attending dental school at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. Following dental school, he served for nine honorable years in the US Air Force.
His USAF experience began by expanding his clinical abilities with an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Eglin Air Force Base (Destin, FL). That was followed by three years of general dentistry experience at Hickam Air Force Base (Honolulu, HI). He then specialized in Endodontics at UTHSCSA and the United States Air Force Post-Graduate Dental School (San Antonio, TX).
In 2017, Dr. Kunz earned Board Certification, an achievement only a limited number of endodontists enjoy! For several years, he held an associate professor appointment with Uniformed Services University (Washington, DC). There he was the chief endodontist for the USAF’s largest AEGD program. He has completed thousands of endodontic procedures and is the first private practice endodontist to perform Targeted Endodontic Microsurgery (TEMS), a novel technique which offers the highest level of safety, precision, and success in endodontic microsurgery.
Giving back through dentistry is important to Dr. Kunz. Therefore he has volunteered for international dental mission trips all over the world (Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, and the Solomon Islands). Over the past few years, he has volunteered endodontic services in extreme remote areas of the Navajo Indian Reservation. Dr. Kunz expects to continue this tradition well into the future, as well as participating in other local community outreach programs.
Dr. Kunz has many interests include golfing, 3D printing, baking, roller blading, amateur lock picking, SCUBA diving, relaxing at the beach, attending sporting events, and spending time with my wife and four children. He also has a love of Korean food thanks to a 2-year church mission in South Korea.
